KIDZ POINT provides an integrative treatment approach that includes the following.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists work on the jobs (occupations) people need to do in their daily lives. For kids, that means learning the skills necessary for play, schoolwork, social relationships and carrying out activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing and eating. We provide standardized assessment and skilled clinical observation to determine both your child’s strengths and gaps in these areas. Goals are then written to address assessment results and parent concerns to help your child function to their fullest potential. We evaluate and provide treatment for a wide range of areas and diagnosis such as:

  • Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
  • Sensory Regulation and Attention Issues
  • Sensory-Based Feeding Issues
  • Fine, Visual and Gross Motor Concerns
  • Motor Planning and Coordination Concerns
  • Visual Perceptual Issues
  • Handwriting Difficulties
  • Concerns in Play (Play Ideas, Social Skills)
  • Neurological-based diagnoses (ADD/ADHD/Autism Spectrum Disorder/Non-verbal Learning Disorder)
  • Developmental Delay
  • Genetic-Based Diagnoses (Down’s Syndrome)

We work foremost from sensory integration perspective in treating the needs of your child. In Sensory Integration the therapist’s work is to encourage the child to come up with ideas and we follow their lead, carefully adding bits and pieces as needed to integrate a certain sense or skill.  We educate parents and work as a team to help parents understand their children from a sensory perspective that honors their special ways,  understand their child’s sometimes puzzling behavior, and provide home programs that are individually appropriate to help kids with the various challenges they meet across their day. Our therapist incorporates specific protocols to enhance treatment where it fits your child’s needs, some of the techniques we may use include:

  • Sensory Integration
  • Sensory-Oral-Sequential (SOS): Sensory-Based Feeding Program
  • Handwriting Without Tears
  • Therapuetic Listening Program
